Description
UrgoStart Contact Dressing is an advanced wound care solution designed by Urgo to support the healing of chronic wounds. This innovative dressing features a non-adhesive, non-occlusive contact layer, making it ideal for wounds with delayed healing due to metabolic imbalances.
Key Technology
At the heart of UrgoStart Contact Dressing is the patented TLC-NOSF technology. This combines a lipido-colloid matrix with a nano-oligosaccharide factor, fostering a conducive environment for wound healing. The technology helps maintain a moist wound environment while limiting the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which can impede healing.
Design and Functionality
- Non-Adhesive and Non-Occlusive: Ensures pain-free removal without adhering to the wound bed.
- Highly Conformable: The polyester mesh construction allows the dressing to be cut to fit various wound shapes, including those in challenging locations.
- Breathable Structure: Enables exudate to pass through to a secondary dressing, maintaining optimal moisture balance.
Usage and Application
UrgoStart Contact Dressing is suitable for a range of chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, venous and arterial leg ulcers, and pressure injuries. It is intended for wounds with low to no exudate and can be used from the appearance of granulation tissue until complete healing.
Contraindications
The dressing should not be used on malignant wounds, wounds on mucous membranes, or in individuals with known hypersensitivity to its components. It is also not recommended for use during hyperbaric oxygen therapy or on fully fibrinous or necrotic wounds.
