Description
Monosyn® is a high-quality, absorbable synthetic monofilament suture designed for versatile use in both human and veterinary surgical procedures. Manufactured by B. Braun, this suture is ideal for general soft tissue approximation and ligation where absorbability is beneficial.
Composition
Monosyn® is crafted from a copolymer consisting of 72% glycolide, 14% ε-caprolactone, and 14% trimethylenecarbonate. It is available in both dyed violet and undyed forms, providing options to suit various surgical needs.
Performance
- Tensile Strength: Retains approximately 50% of its original tensile strength 13 to 14 days post-implantation.
- Absorption: Complete absorption occurs between 60 to 90 days through hydrolysis.

- Sizes: Available from USP 7/0 to USP 2.
- Packaging: Offered in pre-cut lengths, ligating reels, and with various needle attachment options. Each suture is supplied sterile and intended for single use only.
