Insertion and Maintenance
The catheter is inserted at a 20°–45° angle into subcutaneous tissue, with recommended sites including the subclavicular chest wall and anterior upper arms. Proper securing with a transparent dressing is advised, and the device can remain in place for up to 7–14 days if no complications arise.
Regular site inspection is crucial, with documentation as per clinical guidelines. Flushing after bolus doses and changing extension tubing with the cannula are necessary maintenance steps.
