Description
The Colorado MicroDissection Needle by Stryker Instruments is a specialized electrosurgical tool crafted for precision in delicate surgical procedures. Its ultra-sharp, single-use design is tailored for effective cutting, dissection, and coagulation of soft tissues, making it an essential instrument in fields such as neurosurgery, craniomaxillofacial surgery, reconstructive surgery, spinal surgery, and ENT procedures.
Key Features
-
Microscopic Tungsten Alloy Tip: The needle features a 5-micron tungsten alloy tip, providing exceptional sharpness and high current density. This allows for precise tissue dissection and effective hemostasis, even at low power settings.
-
Durability and Performance: With a melting point exceeding 3400°C, the tungsten alloy maintains its sharpness longer than stainless steel and resists tissue build-up. The high-polish finish prevents sticking and facilitates easy cleaning.
-
Advanced Insulation: Equipped with high-temperature polymer insulation, the needle offers high dielectric strength, minimizing unwanted tissue trauma.
Versatility and Compatibility
The Colorado MicroDissection Needle is available in over 20 to 40 configurations, including various lengths, angles, and sleeve diameters. It is compatible with a range of monopolar electrosurgical handpieces, including Stryker’s Neptune E-SEP Smoke Evacuation Pencil. An adapter is available for 4 mm handpieces, enhancing its versatility.
Packaging and Use
Each needle is individually packaged, sterile, and labeled for single use. It is latex-free, with some configurations being reusable and autoclavable. The standard shaft diameter is 3/32", with other sizes available upon request.
Benefits
Healthcare professionals benefit from the needle’s ability to:
- Maintain sharpness throughout procedures, reducing the need for multiple needles.
- Minimize blood loss and tissue distortion.
- Perform consistently at high temperatures.
Additional Information
Originally developed by a neurosurgeon in 1985, the needle is not made with natural rubber latex and is not distributed in the USA for some configurations. It is available in a wide range of models and series, including the N-series, E103-series, E113-series, E117-series, EN-series Curved, E1400-series Long Angled, and E103C-series.
The Colorado MicroDissection Needle stands out as a reliable and precise tool, enhancing surgical outcomes across various medical disciplines.
