The Avanos MICROCUFF Paediatric Endotracheal Tube is a cuffed paediatric ETT engineered for the nuances of neonatal and paediatric airway anatomy. Its high‑volume, low‑pressure cuff is made from ultra‑thin polyurethane (approximately 10 μm) to achieve an effective tracheal seal at minimal cuff pressure and help reduce mucosal irritation. A short, cylindrical cuff is positioned more distally so it sits in the trachea below the sub‑glottis; to support this geometry, the tube is supplied without a Murphy eye. A standard 15 mm connector allows reliable circuit attachment, and a pilot balloon with inflation valve enables precise cuff inflation.

Positioning and verification aids

• Centimeter depth markings along the tube assist with insertion depth and ongoing checks.
• Black vocal cord placement marker near/above the cuff guides correct placement.
• Four placement/verification bands help confirm proper depth after intubation.
• Continuous radiopaque line enhances X‑ray visibility.

Performance and characteristics

• Designed to seal at low cuff pressures; in one study of children 2–4 years using a 4.0 mm ID tube, the median pressure to seal was 11 cm H2O.
• Cuff withstands burst pressures greater than 800 cm H2O.
• A sealed airway supports positive pressure ventilation and permits minimal/low‑flow anesthesia.

• Not recommended for infants weighing under 3 kg.
