Description
Avanos MICROCUFF Paediatric Endotracheal Tubes are cuffed tubes for neonatal and paediatric airway management, designed to achieve a dependable tracheal seal at low cuff pressures. The short, cylindrical polyurethane cuff is positioned to maintain a cuff‑free subglottic zone, supporting ventilation while minimizing the pressure required to seal. Options include Oral/Nasal Magill for oral or nasal intubation and an Oral Curved (RAE) configuration to facilitate oral placement and optimize surgical access. All variants are supplied sterile and are natural rubber latex‑free.
Design and key features
- MICROCUFF technology: ultra‑thin (~10 µm) polyurethane cuff with high‑volume, low‑pressure profile.
- Cuff intended to sit within the trachea, maintaining a cuff‑free subglottic region.
- Supplied without a Murphy eye (both styles).
- Placement aids: centimeter depth markings, anatomically based depth mark, black vocal cord marker near the cuff, and four precision positioning bands.
- Continuous radiopaque line for X‑ray visibility.
- Oral Curved (RAE) option to aid tube stability and surgical field access.
Sizes and configurations (inner diameter, mm)
- Oral/Nasal Magill: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0
- Oral Curved (RAE): 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5
Performance characteristics
- Effective tracheal sealing typically achieved at low cuff pressures; median sealing pressure around 11 cm H2O has been reported with appropriate sizing.
- Cuff membrane described as durable, withstanding high burst pressures (>800 cm H2O).
Intended use and settings
For use by trained clinicians in operating rooms, ICUs, and emergency settings. Suitable for short‑term or prolonged intubation where a gentle, reliable tracheal seal is required in paediatric airways.
Sterility and packaging
- Supplied sterile; natural rubber latex‑free materials.
- Packaging: 10 tubes per box.
