Description
The Avanos MICROCUFF Adult Endotracheal Tube (oral/nasal Magill) with Murphy eye is a sterile, single-use device for establishing and maintaining a secure airway in adult patients. It is intended for oral or nasal intubation in operating rooms, intensive care units, and emergency settings. The MICROCUFF design uses a microthin polyurethane cuff (approximately 13 µm) engineered to achieve a high tracheal seal at low cuff pressures to minimize leakage. By helping to reduce micro-aspiration of pharyngeal secretions, the manufacturer indicates this design may lower the risk of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) during prolonged ventilation.
Key features
- MICROCUFF technology with microthin polyurethane cuff (approx. 13 µm) for a high seal at low cuff pressures
- Latex-free construction
- Standard Magill curve suitable for oral or nasal intubation techniques
- Murphy eye to help maintain airflow if the distal tip becomes partially obstructed
- Depth and measurement markings to assist with insertion depth
- Black vocal cord guide mark near the cuff to support correct positioning
- Positioning bands to help verify tube placement
- Continuous radiopaque line for X-ray visibility and placement confirmation
- Single-use design
Intended use and environments
- Adult airway management during anesthesia, critical care, and emergency interventions
- Designed for use in the operating room, ICU, and emergency settings, including prolonged ventilation when clinically indicated
