Overview

The Avanos BALLARD Closed Suction System — Double Swivel Elbow is an in-line, closed suction catheter for mechanically ventilated adult patients. It enables suctioning without disconnecting the ventilator circuit, helping maintain ventilation and reduce circuit breaks. The Double Swivel Elbow connector allows flexible positioning with fewer connectors in the breathing circuit, while numbered catheter markings assist with controlling insertion depth for consistent technique.

Key design and technology

• BALLARD Turbo-Cleaning chamber: the catheter retracts into an isolated, vacuum-sealed turbulent cleaning chamber to cleanse the tip between passes.
• PEEP Seal to help reduce PEEP loss during suctioning and cleaning.
• One-way lavage port to help prevent sprayback.
• Hinged valve isolates the catheter tip and helps prevent inadvertent lavage.
• Optional integrated MDI port for in-line medication delivery (select configurations).
• Sleeve tether helps prevent over-retraction of the catheter.
