Description
A low-profile, button-style enteral access device, the MIC-KEY Low-Profile Jejunal (J) Feeding Tube provides direct access to the jejunum for delivery of nutrition, hydration, and medications. Designed for patients who cannot tolerate or adequately absorb gastric feeds, it offers a discreet external profile with internal balloon retention and a single jejunal access port. Prescription use only.
Indications
- Patients with impaired gastric emptying or intestinal motility disorders
- Gastric outlet obstruction or high aspiration risk
- Severe GERD where gastric feeding is contraindicated
- Post-esophagectomy or gastrectomy nutritional support
- When jejunal feeding is clinically preferred over gastric feeding
Placement and Replacement
- May be placed percutaneously under fluoroscopic or endoscopic guidance, or surgically
- Suitable as a replacement device through an established stoma tract

Handling and Maintenance
- Do not rotate jejunal or gastric-jejunal tubes; rotation may cause torque and retraction into the stomach
- Inflate retention balloon only with sterile or distilled water; fill volume is size-specific per IFU
- Check balloon volume periodically (e.g., weekly) and refill to prescribed volume as needed
- Stabilize the tube at the stoma during balloon inflation/deflation to prevent accidental removal
- Use liquid medications when possible; verify crushability of tablets/capsules and never crush enteric-coated medications
- Flush with water before and between each medication; do not mix medications with formula
