Description
Overview
The Avanos MIC-KEY Low-Profile Jejunal (J) Feeding Tube is a button-style, low-profile jejunostomy device designed exclusively for jejunal feeding (no gastric port). Constructed from medical-grade silicone, it incorporates an internal retention balloon and a low-profile external bolster, mirroring the familiar MIC-KEY form factor while providing a discreet profile. A single access port labeled “Jejunal” supports enteral delivery directly to the small intestine.
Intended use
Indicated for patients who cannot tolerate gastric feeding or who require jejunal feeding due to impaired gastric emptying, severe gastroesophageal reflux, gastric outlet obstruction, aspiration risk, or following esophagectomy/gastrectomy.
Placement and replacement
The tube may be placed percutaneously under fluoroscopic or endoscopic guidance, and it can serve as a replacement device through an established stoma tract. Surgical placement is also an option per clinical judgment. A radiopaque stripe aids visualization during imaging, and centimeter markings assist with external length verification.
Connections and extension sets
Models are available with ENFit or non-ENFit (catheter tip) feed-set connector options. The tube uses detachable MIC-KEY extension sets featuring the SECUR-LOK connection mechanism. Compatible extension sets are available in continuous or bolus styles; some kit configurations include ENFit extension sets.
