Description
Overview
The Avanos MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube is a skin-level enteral device placed through a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum. It supports simultaneous post-pyloric (jejunal) feeding and gastric decompression/venting through separate lumens. Suitable for pediatric and adult patients, its low-profile button design is intended for comfort and discretion at the skin surface.
Intended Use
- Provides jejunal feeding while allowing gastric decompression or venting via a dedicated gastric lumen.
- Designed to remain at skin level for patient comfort and ease of concealment.
Design and Ports
- Low-profile “button” with external bolster and an internal inflatable balloon for retention.
- Three external access points:
- JEJUNAL port: delivers nutrition to the small intestine.
- GASTRIC port: for decompression/venting (gravity drainage or low intermittent suction).
- BAL port: inflates/deflates the retention balloon.
- One-way valves in JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports that open when a MIC-KEY Extension Set is attached.
- No dedicated medication port; medications are administered via the jejunal or gastric ports per clinical direction.
Connectivity and Kits
- ENFit enteral-only connectivity; designed for use with MIC-KEY Extension Sets.
- Kits include MIC-KEY ENFit extension sets for continuous and bolus feeding.
- Some configurations in the product line may be offered with catheter-tip connectors; verify specific configuration.
Key Features
- Weighted jejunal limb to help maintain jejunal position.
- Multiple jejunal exit ports for distribution.
- Radiopaque stripe to assist with imaging verification.
- Tapered distal tip to aid placement.
- Clearly marked gastric and jejunal ports for identification.
