Description
The Avanos MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube Kit (ENFit) is a skin-level, double-lumen device placed through a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum. It supports simultaneous post-pyloric feeding and gastric decompression/venting for pediatric and adult patients.
Intended use
- Provides jejunal feeding while allowing gastric decompression/venting via a separate lumen.
- Skin-level “button” design intended for comfort, discretion, and low profile under clothing.
Design and retention
- Low-profile button with external bolster and internal inflatable balloon for retention.
- Tungsten-weighted jejunal segment to help maintain jejunal placement.
- Tapered distal tip to aid placement.
- Radiopaque stripe for visibility under imaging.
- Multiple distal jejunal exit ports to distribute feeds.
- Clearly marked gastric and jejunal ports for identification.
Ports and valves
- Three labeled access points:
- JEJUNAL: delivers nutrition into the small intestine.
- GASTRIC: enables decompression/venting of the stomach via gravity or low intermittent suction.
- BAL: for balloon inflation/deflation.
- One-way valves in the JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports open when a MIC-KEY extension set is attached.
- No dedicated medication port; medications may be administered via the jejunal or gastric port per clinical direction.
Connectivity and extension sets
- ENFit connectivity for enteral-only connections.
- Accepts MIC-KEY extension sets; kit includes ENFit extension sets for continuous (right‑angle) and bolus (straight) feeding.
- MIC-KEY SECUR-LOK interface on the button for secure attachment of extension sets.
Materials and safety
- Medical-grade silicone construction; not made with natural rubber latex.
- Not formulated with DEHP, DBP, or BBP.
Placement and measurement
- Intended for endoscopic or radiologic placement; suitable as an initial or replacement tube per clinical judgment.
- Jejunal length is measured from the distal aspect of the retention balloon to the catheter tip.
Sizes and options
- French sizes: 14 Fr, 16 Fr, 18 Fr, 22 Fr.
- Jejunal lengths: 15 cm, 22 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm (availability varies by French size).
- Stoma lengths: approximately 1.0 cm to 7.0 cm (availability varies by tube diameter).
Sterility and use conditions
- Supplied sterile; gamma sterilized.
- Single-use; prescription device (Rx only). Do not reuse, reprocess, or re-sterilize.
Contraindications/cautions (summary)
- May be contraindicated in patients with ascites, colonic interposition, portal hypertension, peritonitis, or morbid obesity. Follow institutional protocols and clinician judgment.
Typical kit contents
- MIC-KEY GJ tube; ENFit extension sets for continuous and bolus feeding; closure caps and clamps. Accessory items such as syringes and gauze pads are commonly included.
