Description
Intended Use
- Low-profile, skin-level gastric–jejunal (GJ) device for patients who require simultaneous post-pyloric (jejunal) feeding and gastric decompression/venting.
- Appropriate for pediatric and adult patients; use under clinician direction (Rx only).
Design and Placement
- Button-style device placed through a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum.
- Internal inflatable retention balloon with a low-profile external bolster for secure, skin-level positioning.
- Weighted jejunal segment and tapered distal tip to aid advancement and help maintain jejunal placement.
Ports and Functions
- Clearly labeled JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports with one-way valves that remain closed unless a compatible MIC-KEY Extension Set is attached.
- JEJUNAL port: for enteral feeding (and medications if directed by the clinician).
- GASTRIC port: for gastric decompression/venting via gravity or low intermittent suction (medications only if directed).
- BAL port: for balloon inflation/deflation. No dedicated medication port.
- Multiple jejunal exit ports support delivery into the jejunum.
Connectivity and Extension Sets
- ENFit enteral-only connectivity to help maintain enteral system compatibility.
- Kits include MIC-KEY ENFit extension sets; compatible options are available for continuous and bolus feeding.
- The product line is also manufactured in catheter-tip connector configurations (availability varies by model).
Key Features
- Low-profile, discreet button head for comfort and ease of dressing.
- Radiopaque stripe for visualization during imaging.
- Detachable extension use to keep the site low-profile when not feeding.
Materials and Sterility
- Medical-grade silicone; latex-free.
- Gamma sterilized; single-use.
- Prescription device (Rx only).
Sizes and Options
- Tube outer diameters: 14, 16, 18, 22 Fr.
- Jejunal lengths: 15, 22, 30, 45 cm (availability depends on tube diameter and stoma length).
- Stoma lengths: approximately 1.0–7.0 cm in defined increments (e.g., 1.0, 1.2, 1.5, 1.7, 2.0, 2.3, 2.5, 2.7, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 cm).
Usage Characteristics
- Supports concurrent jejunal feeding and gastric venting through separate, clearly marked ports.
- One-way valves in the JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports are actuated by the appropriate MIC-KEY extension set to open flow when connected.
- Follow institutional protocols for placement verification, securement, flushing, and balloon volume checks as directed by the clinician.
