Description
The Avanos MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube Kit with ENFit extension sets is a skin-level enteral access device for pediatric and adult patients requiring simultaneous jejunal feeding and gastric decompression/venting. It is placed through a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum, combining a low-profile external bolster with an internal inflatable retention balloon.
Key Features
- Weighted jejunal segment to help maintain placement in the jejunum.
- Multiple jejunal exit ports support distribution of enteral formula.
- Radiopaque stripe for visualization and position verification under imaging.
- Tapered distal tip to aid advancement and placement.
- Low-profile, skin-level design to support patient comfort and discretion.
Ports and Connectivity
- Three access points: JEJUNAL (feeding), GASTRIC (decompression/venting), and BAL (balloon inflation/deflation).
- JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports contain one-way valves that open when a MIC-KEY ENFit extension set is attached; ports are clearly marked J and G.
- ENFit enteral-only connectivity helps reduce misconnections; kit includes ENFit extension sets.
- No dedicated medication port; administer medications via the J or G port per clinical direction.
Sizes and Options
- French sizes: 14, 16, 18, 22 Fr.
- Jejunal lengths: 15, 22, 30, 45 cm (availability varies by French size).
- Stoma tract lengths: approximately 1.0–7.0 cm in defined increments (availability varies by French size).
Balloon and Retention
- Internal balloon provides retention; fill via the BAL port using sterile or distilled water.
- Recommended balloon fill volumes by jejunal length:
- 15–30 cm: 3 mL (maximum 5 mL)
- 45 cm: 7 mL (maximum 10 mL)
Materials and Sterility
- Medical-grade silicone; latex-free.
- Sterile (gamma sterilized).
- Single-use; prescription device (Rx only).
Kit Contents and Compatibility
- Compatible with MIC-KEY GJ ENFit extension sets; kit includes ENFit extension sets for continuous/pump feeding and bolus feeding.
- Some kits include a 35 mL syringe (for venting/priming/flushing) and a 6 mL luer slip syringe (for balloon inflation).
- Stoma measuring device not included.
Use Guidance
- For gastric decompression, use gravity drainage or low intermittent suction; do not use continuous or high intermittent suction.
- Medications should be administered via the J or G port as directed by the care team.
- Also available as a legacy, non-ENFit connector version (separate from this ENFit kit).
