Description
The MIC-KEY (Avanos Medical, Inc.) Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube Kit is a skin-level device designed to provide simultaneous jejunal feeding and gastric decompression/venting through an existing gastric stoma. This configuration features a 16 Fr outer diameter, 2.0 cm stoma length, and 30 cm jejunal length. The low-profile external bolster (“button”) connects to compatible extension sets while an internal inflatable balloon helps retain the device. The non-ENFit, catheter-tip connectivity supports established care protocols where ENFit is not in use.
Design and Ports
- Low-profile external bolster with inflatable internal retention balloon
- JEJUNAL port: one-way valve for delivering nutrition to the small intestine (activated by MIC-KEY Extension Sets)
- GASTRIC port: one-way valve for decompression/venting (activated by MIC-KEY Extension Sets)
- BAL port: for balloon inflation/deflation
- Weighted jejunal limb to help maintain jejunal placement
- Multiple jejunal exit ports for distribution
- Radiopaque stripe for imaging visibility
- Tapered distal tip to aid placement
Compatibility and Connectivity
- Non-ENFit configuration; feed set connector type: catheter tip
- Compatible with MIC-KEY Extension Sets for jejunal and gastric ports
Materials and Regulatory
- Medical-grade silicone; latex-free
- Sterile (gamma sterilized)
- Single-use; prescription device (Rx only)
Specifications (This Configuration)
- Outer diameter: 16 Fr
- Stoma length: 2.0 cm
- Jejunal length: 30 cm
- Balloon inflation: 3 mL sterile or distilled water (maximum 5 mL)
Kit Contents (Typical MIC-KEY GJ Kit)
- Continuous feed extension set, 12 in
- Bolus feed extension set, 12 in
- 35 mL syringe (for venting/priming/flushing)
- 6 mL Luer Slip syringe (for balloon inflation/deflation)
Use Considerations
- For appropriately selected patients requiring jejunal feeding with gastric decompression via a gastric stoma
- Verify placement and functionality per institutional protocol; radiopaque stripe aids imaging confirmation
- Check balloon volume in accordance with clinical guidelines; use only sterile or distilled water for inflation
