Description
The Avanos MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube is a skin-level enteral device designed for patients who require post-pyloric nutrition while maintaining access to the stomach for decompression or venting. Placed through a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum, it supports both pediatric and adult patients when jejunal feeding is indicated. The low-profile “button” design sits close to the skin to help simplify daily care and reduce external profile.
Design and ports
- Low-profile external bolster with an internal inflatable retention balloon.
- Three external access points: JEJUNAL (feeding), GASTRIC (decompression/venting), and BAL (balloon inflation/deflation).
- JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports feature one-way valves that open upon attachment of a MIC-KEY extension set, helping limit backflow when not in use.
- Ports are clearly labeled. There is no dedicated medication port; medications are administered via the J or G port per clinical direction.
Connectivity and accessories
- Available with ENFit connectors; a catheter-tip (non-ENFit) version also exists (availability may vary by region/configuration).
- Compatible MIC-KEY extension sets are used across tube sizes, with options for continuous or bolus feeding.
Key features
- Tungsten-weighted jejunal segment to help maintain distal placement.
- Multiple jejunal exit ports to distribute feeding along the distal limb.
- Radiopaque stripe and radiopaque weighting for visibility on imaging.
- Tapered distal tip to aid placement.
Materials and sterility
- Medical-grade silicone construction; latex-free.
- Sterile (gamma sterilized).
- Single-use; prescription device (Rx only).
Sizes and options
- French sizes (outer diameter): 14 Fr, 16 Fr, 18 Fr, 22 Fr.
- Jejunal lengths (size-dependent): 15 cm, 22 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm.
- Stoma length options: approximately 1.0 cm to 7.0 cm (availability varies by tube diameter/configuration).
