Overview

A low-profile, skin-level gastric-jejunal feeding and drainage device designed by Avanos Medical (MIC-KEY) for pediatric and adult patients. The device is placed through a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum to support post-pyloric nutrition while ventilating or decompressing the stomach via a separate lumen. It is appropriate when simultaneous jejunal feeding and gastric drainage are clinically indicated, such as intolerance to gastric feeding, motility disorders, gastric outlet obstruction, severe GERD, aspiration risk, or after esophagectomy/gastrectomy per clinician judgment.

Design and connectivity

• Low-profile “button” head with external bolster and an internal inflatable retention balloon.
• Clearly labeled external access points: JEJUNAL (feeding), GASTRIC (decompression/venting), BAL (balloon inflation/deflation).
• One-way valves in JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports open when a compatible MIC-KEY Extension Set is attached.
• Connectivity options: ENFit enteral-only patient-side connectors via MIC-KEY SECUR-LOK right-angle or straight extension sets (continuous and bolus). Non-ENFit (catheter tip) versions are also available depending on configuration.
• No dedicated medication port; medications are administered via the J or G port as directed.

• Weighted jejunal section (tungsten) to help maintain position; multiple jejunal exit ports for distribution.
• Gastric drainage holes on the gastric limb; tapered distal tip to aid placement.
• Radiopaque stripe (tungsten) for imaging; clearly marked G and J ports.
• Tube: medical-grade silicone; components may include polyether imide, polycarbonate, barium sulphate, stainless steel spring.
• Extension sets: PVC with citrate softener, ABS, polypropylene clamp.
• Not formulated with natural rubber latex, DEHP, DBP, or BBP.

Sizes and options

• Outer diameter: 14, 16, 18, 22 Fr.
• Jejunal limb lengths: 15, 22, 30, 45 cm (availability varies by Fr size and stoma length).
• Stoma tract lengths: ~1.0–7.0 cm (common options include 1.0 to 7.0 cm in stepped increments).
• Measurement note: Jejunal length is measured from the distal aspect of the balloon to the catheter tip.

Kit contents (ENFit Kit)

• MIC-KEY GJ tube and introducer cannula.
• MIC-KEY Extension Set: SECUR-LOK right-angle connector with double ENFit connectors, closure cap, clamp (~12 in/30 cm).
• MIC-KEY Bolus Extension Set: single ENFit connector with SECUR-LOK straight connector, clamp (~12 in/30 cm).
• 6 ml Luer-slip syringe; 35 ml female ENFit syringe; four gauze pads.

Placement and operation

• Endoscopic or radiologic placement; suitable for initial placement (with Avanos introducer) or replacement.
• GASTRIC port intended for decompression/venting via low intermittent suction or gravity, per clinical protocol.
• Prescription device (Rx only).

Sterility, regulatory, and storage

• Sterile, gamma sterilized; single-use only—do not reuse, reprocess, or re-sterilize.
• Manufactured at an ISO 13485–compliant site; CE marked (Class IIb) under 93/42/EEC (Notified Body BSI 0086).
• Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and radiation sources; shelf life approximately 2 years from date of manufacture.
