Description
Overview
The Avanos MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube is a skin-level “button” enteral device placed through a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum. It is a single-unit GJ feeding and drainage tube retained by an internal inflatable balloon and supported externally by a low-profile bolster. Designed for pediatric and adult patients, it provides gastric access while delivering nutrition beyond the pylorus.
Primary functions
- Post-pyloric feeding via the JEJUNAL lumen.
- Simultaneous gastric decompression/venting via a separate GASTRIC lumen.
Ports and design
The device features three clearly labeled access points: JEJUNAL (feeding), GASTRIC (decompression/venting), and BAL (balloon inflation/deflation). One-way valves in the jejunal and gastric ports open when a MIC-KEY extension set is attached. There is no dedicated medication port; medications are administered via the jejunal or gastric port per clinical direction. Retention is achieved with an internal inflatable balloon, and the external bolster maintains a low profile at the skin level.
Connectivity and accessories
Available with ENFit connectivity; MIC-KEY ENFit Kits include compatible ENFit extension sets. Non-ENFit (catheter-tip) connector versions are also available in non-kit configurations. MIC-KEY extension sets are offered for continuous or bolus use.
