Description
The MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube is a skin-level “button” device designed for long-term enteral access in pediatric and adult patients. Positioned through a gastric stoma with the distal limb in the jejunum, it enables jejunal feeding while allowing gastric decompression or venting. Medications may be administered via the gastric or jejunal port according to clinical direction.
Intended Use
- Supports simultaneous jejunal feeding and gastric decompression/venting.
- Suitable for patients requiring long-term enteral nutrition with jejunal delivery.
Design and Ports
- Low-profile external bolster with three clearly marked access points: JEJUNAL (feeding), GASTRIC (decompression/venting), and BAL (balloon inflation/deflation).
- Internal water-filled retention balloon; balloon port permits adding or removing water to help maintain secure placement.
- One-way, anti-reflux valves in the gastric and jejunal ports that open when a MIC-KEY right-angle SECUR-LOK Extension Set is connected.
- Weighted jejunal segment to help maintain position, with multiple distal exit ports for distribution.
- Radiopaque stripe for imaging visibility and a tapered distal tip.
Connectivity and Compatibility
- Uses detachable MIC-KEY Extension Sets (right-angle SECUR-LOK); sets disconnect when not in use so the button remains low-profile under clothing.
- Available with ENFit connectors; non-ENFit (catheter-tip) configurations are also offered (variant-dependent).
- Kit versions include ENFit extension sets for continuous and bolus feeding.
Materials and Regulatory
- Medical-grade silicone construction; not made with natural rubber latex.
- Sterile (gamma sterilized), single-use.
- Prescription device (Rx only).
Sizes and Options (variant-dependent)
- French sizes: 14, 16, 18, 22 Fr.
- Jejunal lengths: 15, 22, 30, 45 cm (availability varies by size; 22 Fr commonly offered at 45 cm).
- Stoma (shaft) lengths: approximately 1.0–7.0 cm in small increments; availability varies by tube diameter/model.
Placement and Replacement
- Placement and replacement require endoscopic or fluoroscopic procedures by trained clinicians.
- Not intended for at-home replacement.
