Description
The Avanos Medical MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube is a skin-level “button” device designed for pediatric and adult patients who require post-pyloric nutrition while permitting simultaneous gastric decompression. Placed through a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum, it offers discreet, low-profile access and is available as a standalone device or as a kit that includes ENFit extension sets.
Intended use and placement
- Intended for jejunal feeding with concurrent gastric decompression/venting.
- Low-profile, skin-level placement via a gastric stoma; distal limb resides in the jejunum.
Design and retention
- Low-profile external bolster with an internal inflatable balloon for secure retention.
- Weighted jejunal limb to help maintain position within the small bowel.
Ports and connectivity
- Three external access points: JEJUNAL (feeding), GASTRIC (decompression/venting), and BAL (balloon inflation/deflation).
- JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports feature one-way valves that open when a MIC-KEY extension set is attached.
- No dedicated medication port; medications may be administered via the jejunal or gastric port per clinical direction.
- Extension sets connect via the SECUR-LOK interface.
- ENFit (enteral-only) connector option available; legacy catheter-tip connector variants may be offered depending on model.
- Kits include ENFit extension sets; extensions are available for continuous and bolus feeding.
Key features
- Multiple jejunal exit ports to support flow and reduce clogging risk.
- Radiopaque stripe and radiopaque weighted segment for visualization under imaging.
- Tapered distal tip to aid placement.
- Clearly marked G (gastric) and J (jejunal) ports with a low-profile button head.
Materials, sterility, and use
- Medical-grade silicone construction; latex-free.
