Description
Overview
The Avanos MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube Kit (ENFit) is a skin-level, double-lumen device placed through a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum. It enables simultaneous jejunal feeding and gastric decompression/venting for pediatric and adult patients. The low-profile “button” design sits at the skin surface for discretion and comfort and is supplied with compatible MIC-KEY ENFit extension sets for access.
Design and access ports
- Low-profile external bolster with an internal inflatable retention balloon
- Three clearly labeled access points on the button: JEJUNAL (feeding), GASTRIC (decompression/venting), BAL (balloon inflation/deflation)
- One-way valves in JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports that open when MIC-KEY extension sets are attached
- No dedicated medication port; medications are administered via J or G port per clinical direction
- Gastric decompression via low intermittent suction or gravity drainage, as ordered
Connectivity and kit contents
- ENFit feeding connectors for standard enteral compatibility
- Kit includes MIC-KEY ENFit extension sets for continuous and/or bolus access
- SECUR-LOK mechanism helps secure extension sets to the button during use
Functional features
- Weighted jejunal portion to help maintain jejunal position
- Multiple jejunal exit ports to promote distribution and flow
- Radiopaque stripe for visibility under imaging
- Tapered distal tip to aid placement
- Clearly marked G and J ports for quick identification
Materials, sterility, and regulatory
- Medical-grade silicone construction
- Not made with natural rubber latex
- Sterile (gamma sterilized)
- Single-use; prescription device (Rx only)
Sizes and configurations
- Outer diameter (French sizes): 14, 16, 18, 22 Fr
- Jejunal lengths: 15 cm, 22 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm (availability varies by French size)
- Stoma lengths: approximately 1.0–7.0 cm (availability varies by French size)
- Jejunal length is measured from the distal aspect of the retention balloon to the catheter tip
Placement and use notes
- Intended for endoscopic or radiologic placement
- May be used for initial placement per clinical practice or as a replacement in a mature stoma tract
- For enteral feeding and gastric decompression/venting under clinician supervision; follow institutional protocols for care, verification of position, and maintenance
