Description
The Avanos Medical MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube (ENFit) is a skin-level enteral access device placed through a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum. It enables simultaneous post-pyloric (jejunal) feeding and gastric decompression or venting via separate lumens. Suitable for pediatric and adult patients, the low-profile “button” design supports comfort and discretion in daily activities.
Key Features and Design
- Low-profile external bolster with an internal inflatable retention balloon
- Tapered distal tip to aid placement; radiopaque stripe for imaging visibility
- Weighted jejunal segment to help maintain jejunal positioning
- Multiple jejunal exit ports for distributed delivery
- Clearly marked JEJUNAL (J), GASTRIC (G), and BAL ports for identification
Ports, Valves, and Connectivity
- JEJUNAL (J) port: one-way valve opens when a MIC-KEY ENFit extension set is attached; intended for feeding into the small intestine
- GASTRIC (G) port: one-way valve for decompression/venting; may be used for medications if clinically directed
- BAL port: for balloon inflation/deflation
- ENFit enteral-only connectivity on feeding/decompression ports; MIC-KEY ENFit extension sets are required to access the G and J ports (extensions available for continuous and bolus feeding). Kit configurations include ENFit extension sets.
Materials and Sterility
- Medical-grade silicone; latex-free
- Sterile (gamma sterilized); single-use
- Prescription device (Rx only)
Sizes and Options
- French sizes: 14 Fr, 16 Fr, 18 Fr, 22 Fr
- Jejunal lengths (size-dependent): 15 cm, 22 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm
- Stoma length options: approximately 1.0 cm to 7.0 cm (availability varies by tube diameter)
- Example configuration: 16 Fr outer diameter; stoma length 1.2 cm; jejunal length 30 cm
Use and Handling
- Placement by a clinician is required; not intended for home replacement
- No dedicated medication port; medications may be administered via the J or G port per clinical direction
