Description
A low-profile, skin-level gastric-jejunal (GJ) feeding tube kit designed by Avanos for pediatric and adult patients who require simultaneous jejunal feeding and gastric decompression. The MIC-KEY GJ device is placed through a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum, enabling post-pyloric nutrition while venting or decompression through a separate gastric lumen.
Intended Use
- Provides continuous or intermittent jejunal feeding beyond the pylorus.
- Allows gastric decompression/venting via a dedicated gastric lumen while feeding occurs through the jejunal lumen.
- Suitable for pediatric and adult patients when concurrent feeding and decompression are clinically indicated.
Design and Ports
- Low-profile “button” with external bolster; internal inflatable silicone balloon for retention.
- Three access points: JEJUNAL (feeding), GASTRIC (decompression/venting), BAL (balloon inflation/deflation).
- JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports feature one-way valves that open upon MIC-KEY extension set attachment.
- Clearly marked G and J ports; no dedicated medication port (medications administered via jejunal or gastric port per clinical direction).
Key Features
- Weighted jejunal portion with radiopaque stripe for visualization; designed for high columnar strength to help maintain placement.
- Multiple jejunal exit ports to promote flow and reduce clogging.
- Tapered distal tip to aid advancement and placement.
- SECUR-LOK extension set connector mechanism.
Materials and Sterility
- Medical-grade silicone construction; not made with natural rubber latex.
- Not formulated with DEHP, DBP, or BBP.
- Sterile (gamma sterilized). Single-use. Prescription device (Rx only).
Connectivity and Kit Configuration
- ENFit enteral-only connectivity to help support enteral-to-enteral connections.
- Kit includes MIC-KEY ENFit extension sets: right-angle (continuous) and straight (bolus) options.
- Typical kits also include syringes and gauze pads.
Sizes and Options
- French sizes: 14 Fr, 16 Fr, 18 Fr, 22 Fr.
- Jejunal lengths: 15 cm, 22 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm (availability varies by French size).
- Stoma lengths: multiple increments from approximately 1.0 cm to 7.0 cm (availability varies by size).
Measurement Note
Jejunal length is measured from the distal aspect of the retention balloon to the catheter tip.
