Description
The Avanos MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube is a skin-level, low-profile “button” placed via a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum. It enables post-pyloric enteral feeding through the jejunal lumen while allowing simultaneous gastric decompression/venting via a separate gastric lumen. Designed for discretion and comfort, it is appropriate for pediatric and adult patients.
Key Features
- Low-profile external bolster with internal inflatable retention balloon
- Weighted jejunal segment to help maintain distal placement
- Multiple jejunal exit ports for distributed delivery
- Tapered distal tip to aid placement
- Radiopaque stripe for visualization and position verification
- Clearly labeled, color‑coded gastric (G) and jejunal (J) ports
Ports and Connectivity
- Three external access points:
- JEJUNAL (feeding)
- GASTRIC (decompression/venting)
- BAL (balloon inflation/deflation)
- One-way valves in the J and G ports open upon attachment of a MIC-KEY Extension Set
- No dedicated medication port; medications may be administered via the J or G port per clinical direction
- Compatible with MIC-KEY Extension Sets; kits typically include continuous and bolus extension sets matched to connector type
- Connector options available by variant: ENFit; catheter-tip (non‑ENFit) variants are also offered within the product family
Materials, Sterility, and Use
- Medical-grade silicone; latex-free
- Sterile (gamma sterilized)
- Single-use; prescription only (Rx)
- Intended for clinician placement and management; gastric decompression is commonly via gravity drainage or low intermittent suction per institutional protocol
