Description
The Avanos MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube is a skin-level “button” device designed for pediatric and adult patients who require simultaneous post-pyloric (jejunal) feeding and gastric decompression/venting through separate lumens.
Intended use / patient population
- Supports jejunal feeding while providing gastric decompression or venting.
- Suitable for pediatric and adult patients when enteral therapy requires separate gastric and jejunal access.
Design and key features
- Low-profile head with external bolster and internal inflatable silicone retention balloon.
- Three clearly marked ports: JEJUNAL (feeding), GASTRIC (decompression/venting), and BAL (balloon inflation/deflation).
- One-way valves in JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports that open upon attachment of a MIC-KEY extension set.
- Weighted jejunal segment with high columnar strength to help maintain position in the jejunum and may reduce the need for repositioning.
- Multiple jejunal feeding exit ports and gastric drainage exits to support flow and help reduce clogging.
- Radiopaque stripe and radiopaque weighted jejunal segment for visualization under imaging.
- Tapered distal tip to aid placement.
- Color-coded and clearly labeled G and J ports for easy identification.
- SECUR-LOK mechanism for secure attachment of MIC-KEY extension sets; ENFit feeding connectors for enteral compatibility.
- High-clarity, medical-grade silicone construction for visibility and drapability; latex-free; not formulated with DEHP/DBP/BBP.
- No dedicated medication port; medications may be administered via the jejunal or gastric port per clinical direction.
- Single-use; sterile (gamma sterilized); prescription device (Rx only).
Connectivity and kit contents
- ENFit connectivity for feeding connections.
- Kit includes MIC-KEY ENFit extension sets suitable for continuous and bolus feeding.
Sizes and options
- French sizes: 14, 16, 18, 22 Fr.
- Stoma lengths: approximately 1.0–7.0 cm.
- Jejunal lengths: 15 cm, 22 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm.
- Measurement note: Jejunal length is measured from the distal aspect of the retention balloon to the catheter tip.
Listing variant details
- 14 Fr diameter.
- Stoma length: 2.3 cm.
- ENFit connectors.
- Jejunal length: not specified in this listing.
Additional information
- Use compatible MIC-KEY extension sets to engage one-way valves and the SECUR-LOK mechanism.
- Select size based on patient anatomy and clinical direction, including stoma and jejunal length requirements.
