Description

The Avanos MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube is a skin-level, single-unit device placed through a gastric stoma with its distal limb positioned in the jejunum. It supports jejunal feeding while allowing independent gastric decompression or venting. Retention is provided by an internal inflatable balloon and an external low-profile bolster at skin level. Indicated for pediatric and adult patients who require simultaneous post-pyloric feeding and gastric decompression.

Ports and functions

• JEJUNAL port: delivers nutrition and liquids into the small intestine; multiple jejunal exit ports support distribution and help reduce clogging.
• GASTRIC port: for decompression/venting or drainage of the stomach via gravity or low intermittent suction.
• BAL (balloon) port: inflates/deflates the internal retention balloon.
• One-way valves: JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports open only when a MIC-KEY extension set is attached; ports are clearly labeled.
• No dedicated medication port; medications may be administered via the jejunal or gastric port per clinical direction.

Connectivity and compatibility

• Access via MIC-KEY extension sets for continuous (pump) or bolus feeding.
• Connector options available: ENFit and non-ENFit (catheter tip).

Balloon specifications

• Fill medium: sterile or distilled water only (not saline or air).
• Recommended volumes: 3 mL for 15/22/30 cm jejunal length; 7 mL for 45 cm.
• Maximum volumes: 5 mL (15/22/30 cm) and 10 mL (45 cm).
