Description
The MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube (ENFit) is a skin-level, double-lumen gastrojejunostomy device designed for long-term enteral access. It enables post-pyloric (jejunal) feeding while allowing gastric decompression/venting through a separate lumen. Suitable for pediatric and adult patients, it is placed by a clinician under endoscopic and/or radiologic guidance and can be used for initial placement (with an Avanos introducer system) or as a replacement in an established stoma tract. MIC-KEY is a trademark of Avanos Medical, Inc.
Key features
- Low-profile, “button” design for comfort and discretion
- Internal silicone, water-inflated retention balloon (BAL port access)
- Weighted (tungsten) jejunal portion to help maintain position
- Multiple jejunal exit ports for distribution of feeds
- Radiopaque stripe for visualization on imaging
- Tapered distal tip to aid placement
- Clearly labeled gastric and jejunal ports
Connectivity and ports
- Three access points: JEJUNAL (feeding), GASTRIC (decompression/venting), BAL (balloon)
- One-way valves in JEJUNAL and GASTRIC ports open when a MIC-KEY extension set is attached
- SECUR-LOK mechanism between tube and MIC-KEY extension sets; ENFit-compatible connectors
- No dedicated medication port; medications administered via jejunal or gastric port per clinical direction
Materials and sterility
- Medical-grade silicone tube; components may include polyether imide, polycarbonate, stainless steel spring, barium sulfate (radiopacity)
- Extension sets: PVC (citrate softener) and ABS; clamps polypropylene
- Not formulated with natural rubber latex or DEHP/DBP/BBP
- Gamma-sterile, single-use; prescription device (Rx)
Sizes and options
- French sizes: 14 Fr, 16 Fr, 18 Fr, 22 Fr
- Jejunal limb lengths: 15 cm, 22 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm
- Stoma length options: approximately 1.0–7.0 cm (varies by diameter)
- Balloon inflation volume is size-dependent—refer to device IFU
Kit contents (typical)
- MIC-KEY GJ tube
- MIC-KEY ENFit extension sets (e.g., continuous/pump right-angle and bolus straight)
- 35 mL ENFit syringe and 6 mL luer-slip syringe
- Patient use & care/quick start materials; gauze pads
Use and care highlights
- Inflate/deflate retention balloon with sterile or distilled water via BAL port; follow IFU
- For gastric decompression, use gravity or low intermittent suction per clinical direction; do not use continuous or high intermittent suction
- Do not inject formula or medications directly into the port valve; attach the appropriate MIC-KEY extension set
- Not for at-home replacement; placement and replacement by a clinician
Regulatory and storage
- CE marked medical device (Class IIb); manufactured under an ISO 13485–compliant quality system
- Store in a cool, dry place away from heat/radiation
- Typical shelf life: 2 years from date of manufacture
