Description
The Avanos MIC-KEY Low-Profile Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube Kit (ENFit) is a skin-level device for patients who require simultaneous post-pyloric (jejunal) feeding and gastric decompression/venting via separate lumens. Designed for pediatric and adult use, its low-profile “button” form factor supports patient comfort and allows the extension set to be detached when not in use. The kit includes MIC-KEY ENFit extension sets for port access.
Intended Use
- For pediatric and adult patients needing concurrent jejunal feeding and gastric decompression/venting through separate lumens.
Design Overview
- Low-profile, skin-level GJ tube placed through a gastric stoma with the distal limb positioned in the jejunum.
- Retained by an internal, water-inflated balloon and a low-profile external bolster.
Ports and Connectivity
- Two patient ports with internal one-way valves:
- JEJUNAL (feeding)
- GASTRIC (decompression/venting)
- Valves open when MIC-KEY ENFit extension sets are attached.
- Separate BAL port for inflation/deflation of the retention balloon.
- ENFit connector standard; kit includes MIC-KEY ENFit extension sets.
Key Features
- Weighted jejunal segment to help maintain distal position.
- Multiple jejunal exit ports to distribute enteral formula.
- Radiopaque stripe for X-ray visibility.
- Tapered distal tip to aid placement.
- Clearly marked G and J ports for identification.
- Low-profile design supports discretion and reduced snagging.
Materials and Sterility
- Medical-grade silicone construction.
- Latex-free.
- Sterile (gamma sterilized).
- Single-use device.
Sizes and Options
- French sizes: 14, 16, 18, 22.
- Jejunal limb lengths: 15 cm, 22 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm (size-dependent).
- Stoma length options: approximately 1.0–7.0 cm in various increments.
Compatibility and Usage Notes
- Uses MIC-KEY ENFit extension sets; extension sets from other brands are not interchangeable.
- Ports require an extension set to access; avoid overtightening when locking the extension.
- Do not rotate the device, as rotation can torque the tube and alter position.
- Inflate the retention balloon with sterile or distilled water only, per the Instructions for Use.
- No dedicated medication port; medications are administered via the G or J port as directed by the care team.
