Description

The MIC-KEY Low-Profile Balloon Gastrostomy Button from Avanos Medical is a skin-level G-tube designed for long-term gastric access. Its low-profile “button” design includes an internal inflatable retention balloon and an anti-reflux feeding-port valve. Used with MIC-KEY ENFit Extension Sets, it supports enteral nutrition, fluid and medication delivery, and venting/decompression.

Intended use and placement

• For pediatric and adult patients requiring long-term gastric access.
• Placement options include fluoroscopic, laparoscopic, or endoscopic guidance; also suitable as a replacement device through an established stoma tract.

Connectivity and compatibility

• Use only MIC-KEY Extension Sets with the MIC-KEY feeding port.
• Feeding port’s anti-reflux valve remains closed until an extension set is attached; cap when not in use.
• SECUR-LOK patient-end connector (typically right-angle; straight on some bolus sets) aligns and twist-locks; disconnect by reverse twist.
• ENFit connectors on the extension sets interface with feeding pumps, gravity sets, and ENFit syringes.
• Safety Ring/SECUR-LOK design helps reduce leaks and misconnection to non-enteral lines.

Sizes and balloon inflation

• French sizes: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 24 Fr.
• Stoma lengths (cm): 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.5, 1.7, 2.0, 2.3, 2.5, 2.7, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0.
• Typical ranges: 12 Fr (0.8–4.0 cm); 14–20 Fr (0.8–5.0 cm); 24 Fr (1.5–5.0 cm).
• Balloon fill (water only): 12 Fr 3 mL (max 5 mL); 14–24 Fr 5 mL (max 10 mL). Use sterile or distilled water only—do not use saline, air, or tap water.

Materials and sterility

• High-clarity, medical-grade silicone with radiopaque stripe for imaging visibility.
• Not made with natural rubber latex; not made with DEHP.
• G-tube/button: sterile, single-use; do not reuse, reprocess, or resterilize.
• Extension sets: non-sterile; reusable for a single patient only.

Typical kit contents (ENFit configuration)

• MIC-KEY Low-Profile G-tube (size/length as ordered).
• ENFit extension sets: one Continuous Feed (12 in/30 cm) and one Bolus Feed (12 in/30 cm).
• 6 mL luer slip syringe (balloon inflation/deflation).
• 35 mL ENFit enteral syringe.
• Gauze pad; insertion stylet and water‑soluble lubricant (included in some regions).

MIC-KEY ENFit Extension Sets

• Continuous Feed: SECUR-LOK right-angle patient-end; ENFit feeding side; two-port Y-connector with dedicated medication port; integrated clamp; lengths 12 in/30 cm and 24 in/60 cm.
• Bolus Feed: SECUR-LOK patient-end (straight or right-angle); ENFit; clamp; lengths 12 in/30 cm and 24 in/60 cm.
• Single-Port Feed: ENFit; SECUR-LOK; lengths 12 in/30 cm and 24 in/60 cm.
• Medication Extension: ENFit; approximately 2 in/5.1 cm.
• Compatibility: For MIC-KEY G, J, and G-J tubes (use the appropriate set for the tube type).

Care and handling

• Flush the extension set and tube before and after each use with an ENFit syringe to help prevent clogging.
• Replace extension sets at intervals per Instructions for Use; weekly replacement is commonly recommended per clinician/institutional guidance.
• Verify balloon volume periodically; keep the stoma site clean and dry; rotate the external base as directed to prevent adherence.

Storage

• Store in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and sources of heat or radiation.
