Description
Overview
The Avanos MIC-KEY Low-Profile Balloon Gastrostomy (G) Button is a skin-level, balloon-retained feeding tube for long-term enteral nutrition, medication delivery, and gastric decompression/venting in pediatric through adult patients. Its low-profile design sits flush to the skin to reduce snagging and interference with clothing in home or clinical settings.
Intended use and placement
- For patients requiring sustained gastric access for feeding, medications, or venting.
- May be placed percutaneously under fluoroscopic, laparoscopic, or endoscopic guidance, or used as a replacement device via an established stoma tract.
Design and key features
- Medical-grade, high-clarity silicone construction; natural rubber latex-free.
- Sterile device (EtO sterilized).
- Inflatable internal retention balloon.
- Feeding port with integrated anti-reflux valve that remains closed when no extension set is attached.
- Radiopaque stripe and recessed distal tip for visualization and comfort.
- Jejunal feeding port: no (G-tube configuration).
Connectors and compatibility
- Uses dedicated MIC-KEY extension sets with SECUR-LOK (CE) right-angle patient-end connectors and safety ring to help minimize accidental disconnects and protect the valve.
- ENFit connectors on the feeding side; Y-configuration provides a dedicated medication port.
- Only MIC-KEY extension sets are intended for connection to the MIC-KEY feeding port; not interchangeable with other brands’ extensions.
