Description

The Avanos MIC ENFit Gastrojejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube is a double‑lumen, balloon‑retained transgastric–jejunal device designed to enable simultaneous gastric decompression/drainage and jejunal delivery of enteral nutrition and medications. It is intended for pediatric and adult patients who cannot adequately absorb nutrition via the stomach, including those with intestinal dysmotility, gastric outlet obstruction, severe gastroesophageal reflux with aspiration risk, or following esophagectomy or gastrectomy.

Key features

  • Two dedicated lumens: a gastric drainage lumen and a jejunal feeding lumen for concurrent therapies.
  • Connectors: Male ENFit connectors on both gastric and jejunal ports; no separate medication port.
  • Retention and stabilization: Silicone internal balloon with SECUR‑LOK external retention ring.
  • Distal tip: Tapered tip with multiple gastric and jejunal exit ports to promote flow and help reduce clogging.
  • Radiopacity: Tungsten‑weighted jejunal segment and barium‑sulfate stripe along the gastric segment for visualization under imaging.
  • Construction: Medical‑grade silicone; not made with natural rubber latex, DEHP, DBP, or BBP.

Sizing and measurements

  • Outer diameter options (ENFit versions):
  • 16 Fr OD with jejunal lengths 15, 22, 30, 45 cm
  • 18 Fr OD with jejunal lengths 22, 30, 45 cm
  • 22 Fr OD with jejunal length 45 cm
  • Jejunal length is measured from the distal aspect of the retention balloon to the catheter tip.

Placement and compatibility

  • Appropriate for initial endoscopic or fluoroscopic placement and for replacement via an established stoma tract; may also be placed surgically.
  • ENFit-compatible ports support standard enteral administration sets and syringes.

Balloon fill guidance

  • 15–30 cm tube lengths: recommended 5 mL (maximum 10 mL).
  • 45 cm tube lengths: recommended 7–10 mL (maximum 15 mL).

Typical kit configurations

  • Endoscopic/Fluoroscopic or Surgical kits available (contents vary).
  • Common inclusions: GJ tube with ENFit connectors, placement guidewire, 35 mL syringe, 6 mL luer‑slip syringe for balloon inflation, and patient directions/care guidelines.

Use and handling

  • Sterile, single‑use device; do not re‑use, re‑process, or re‑sterilize.

Contraindications (device family)

  • Ascites; colonic interposition; portal hypertension; peritonitis; morbid obesity.
