Description
Overview
The Avanos MIC Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube Kit with ENFit connectors is a double‑lumen, balloon‑retained enteral access device placed through an existing gastric stoma to support simultaneous jejunal feeding and gastric decompression/venting. This configuration is 16 Fr with a 30 cm jejunal length (measured from the distal aspect of the retention balloon to the catheter tip). It is intended for patients who cannot meet nutritional needs via the stomach, such as those with intestinal motility disorders, gastric outlet obstruction, severe gastroesophageal reflux, aspiration risk, or following esophagectomy/gastrectomy.
Key features
- Two functional lumens plus a balloon port
- Jejunal feeding port (ENFit): delivers nutrition/medications to the small intestine; intended for continuous, pump‑assisted feeding (no bolus via J lumen)
- Gastric port (ENFit): for decompression/venting via gravity or low intermittent suction, per IFU
- Balloon (BAL) port: luer‑slip interface for inflation/deflation
- Internal silicone retention balloon and external SECUR‑LOK retention ring
- Tapered distal tip and multiple defined gastric and jejunal side exit ports
- Radiopacity: barium sulphate stripe along the gastric portion; tungsten‑weighted jejunal segment for fluoroscopic visibility
- Centimeter markings to help verify external length/position
- No dedicated separate medication port
Dimensions and balloon
- Outer diameter: 16 Fr
- Jejunal length: 30 cm
- Balloon fill medium: sterile/distilled water only (do not use saline, tap water, or air)
- Typical fill range: 7–10 mL; do not exceed 10 mL (verify per IFU)
Materials and composition
- Medical‑grade silicone tube; Tritan and polypropylene components
- Radiopaque fillers: tungsten (jejunal segment) and barium sulphate stripe (gastric segment)
- Not made with natural rubber latex, DEHP, DBP, or BBP
Placement and use
- Initial placement by endoscopic or radiologic (fluoroscopic) techniques; suitable for replacement in an established stoma tract
- Jejunal lumen: continuous/pump‑assisted feeding only
- Gastric lumen: decompression/venting as directed in the IFU
- Do not rotate the tube; handle per IFU to avoid migration or damage
Sterility and regulatory
- Sterile; ethylene oxide (EO) sterilized
- Single‑use only; Rx‑only
Contraindications (examples; see IFU for complete list)
- Ascites, colonic interposition, portal hypertension, peritonitis, morbid obesity
