Description
The Avanos MIC ENFit Gastrojejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube is a balloon‑retained, transgastric device that enables simultaneous gastric decompression/venting and jejunal delivery of nutrition and medications. It is intended for patients who cannot tolerate or adequately absorb nutrition via the stomach (e.g., intestinal dysmotility, gastric outlet obstruction, severe reflux or aspiration risk, post‑esophagectomy/gastrectomy). Use is appropriate in adult or pediatric patients per clinician judgment in hospital or home settings.
Design and key features
- Dual‑lumen configuration with distinct gastric drainage/venting channel and jejunal feeding channel.
- ENFit connectors (ISO 80369‑3) on both gastric and jejunal ports; no separate medication port. Compatible with ENFit syringes and administration sets; enteral‑only, locking design to help reduce misconnections.
- Internal retention balloon (medical‑grade silicone); size‑dependent fill volume 7–10 mL; do not exceed 10 mL.
- SECUR‑LOK external retention ring for external stabilization and adjustment of external length.
- Tapered distal tip with multiple gastric and jejunal exit ports to facilitate drainage and feeding.
- Imaging visibility via tungsten‑weighted jejunal segment and a barium‑sulfate radiopaque stripe on the gastric segment; centimeter markings help monitor external length.
- Constructed of medical‑grade silicone; not made with natural rubber latex, DEHP, DBP, or BBP.
Placement and measurement
- Suitable for initial placement under endoscopic, fluoroscopic, or surgical guidance and for replacement in a mature stoma tract.
- Jejunal length is measured from the distal aspect of the retention balloon to the catheter tip.
Available sizes (ENFit)
- 16 Fr: 15 cm, 22 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm jejunal lengths
- 18 Fr: 22 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm jejunal lengths
- 22 Fr: 45 cm jejunal length
Labeling and handling
- Sterile; ethylene oxide sterilized. Single‑use; do not re‑use, re‑process, or re‑sterilize. Rx only.
- Always verify tube position prior to feeding; flush per clinical protocol.
- Do not connect the jejunal port to suction and do not measure residuals from the jejunal port.
- Balloon care: fill with water only; check volume periodically. Do not inflate with air, medications, or formula.
- Use only ENFit‑compatible syringes and administration sets.
Contraindications (device family)
- Ascites
- Colonic interposition
- Portal hypertension
- Peritonitis
- Morbid obesity
