Description
The Avanos MIC Gastric-Jejunal (GJ) Feeding Tube with ENFit connector is a dual-lumen enteral access device designed for simultaneous gastric decompression/drainage and delivery of nutrition into the distal duodenum or proximal jejunum. It supports patients who cannot meet nutritional needs via the stomach while enabling continuous venting of gastric contents as clinically indicated.
Intended use and patient populations
- Patients unable to absorb adequate nutrition through the stomach
- Intestinal motility disorders
- Gastric outlet obstruction
- Severe gastroesophageal reflux
- Elevated aspiration risk
- Post-esophagectomy or post-gastrectomy
Placement
- Designed for endoscopic or radiologic placement according to clinical protocol and the Instructions for Use (IFU).
Configuration and connectivity
- Dual-lumen design:
- Gastric lumen: decompression/drainage
- Jejunal lumen: feeding
- Feed set connector: ENFit
- Jejunal feeding port present; no dedicated medication port (medications may be administered via the jejunal feeding port as directed).
Sizes and lengths
- Outer diameter options: 16 Fr, 18 Fr, 22 Fr
- Jejunal length options (availability varies by size):
- 16 Fr: 15 cm, 22 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm
- 18 Fr: 22 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm
- 22 Fr: 45 cm
Design features
- Inflatable internal retention balloon (silicone); fill with sterile/distilled water per IFU
- External stabilization via SECUR-LOK retention ring (included with kit configurations)
- Radiopaque stripe for visualization under imaging
- Tapered distal tip to aid passage and positioning
Sterility and regulatory
- Sterile; sterilized by ethylene oxide (EtO)
- Prescription use only (Rx-only)
Kit availability (for endoscopic/radiologic placement)
Typical kit configurations may include: - MIC GJ feeding tube - Coated guidewire - Luer slip syringe prefilled with water - 35 mL ENFit syringe - Water‑soluble lubricant - SECUR-LOK retention ring - Instructions for Use and Patient Care Guidelines
Clinical considerations
- Enables concurrent gastric decompression and jejunal feeding to support nutritional therapy while mitigating gastric retention and reflux.
- Selection of French size and jejunal length should be based on patient anatomy, access route, and imaging guidance.
- Use only ENFit-compatible administration sets and accessories as specified in the IFU.
