Description

The Avanos MIC ENFit Balloon Gastrostomy Feeding Tube with Y-Connector is a standard-length G-tube designed to provide long-term gastric access for enteral nutrition, medication delivery, and gastric decompression/venting in pediatric and adult patients who cannot tolerate oral feeding and are at low risk for aspiration. It is not a gastro-jejunal device and includes no jejunal port.

Intended use and placement

  • Surgical or percutaneous placement under fluoroscopic or endoscopic guidance
  • Suitable for replacement through a mature stoma tract
  • Supports gastric feeding, medication administration, and venting/decompression

Design and materials

  • Medical-grade silicone tube with a radiopaque stripe for X-ray visualization
  • Internal inflatable retention balloon
  • External SECUR-LOK retention ring/disc for fixation and bedside adjustment of external length
  • Standard-length configuration (not low-profile/button); extension sets are not required

Connectors and ports

  • ENFit Y-connector (ISO 80369-3) featuring two separate gastric ports: one for feeding and one for medication or water flushes
  • Dedicated balloon inflation port
  • No jejunal port
  • Clamp not included by default; a separate clamp may be provided by the facility if needed

Sizes and distal tip

  • Available sizes: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 French (Fr)
  • Distal tip design: 12 Fr has a tapered distal tip; 14–30 Fr have a recessed distal tip

Balloon and inflation

  • Balloon fill volume is size-dependent; follow device labeling and instructions for use. The maximum fill volume is printed on the balloon inflation port.
  • Inflate the balloon with sterile or distilled water only. Do not use saline, tap water, or air.

Care and handling

  • Clean the stoma site daily and keep the area dry
  • Once daily, gently rotate the tube and retract until resistance from the internal balloon is felt, then position the external retention disc approximately 2–3 mm from the skin
  • Flush after and between each feeding or medication administration
  • Secure the tube to avoid traction and cap all ports when not in use

Sterility and regulatory

  • Supplied sterile; gamma sterilized
  • Prescription device (Rx)
