Overview
The Avanos MIC Balloon Gastrostomy Feeding Tube is a standard‑length, balloon‑retained G‑tube designed to provide long‑term gastric access for pediatric and adult patients who cannot tolerate oral intake and are at low aspiration risk. It supports enteral nutrition, medication administration, and gastric decompression.
Intended use and placement
- Compatible with percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) placement techniques.
- Suitable as a replacement tube through a mature stoma tract.
- Not a gastro‑jejunal tube.
Ports and connectivity
- ENFit Y‑connector compliant with ISO 80369‑3.
- Two gastric ports to separate feeding from medication/flushes.
- Dedicated balloon inflation port.
- No jejunal port; extension sets are not required.
Design and materials
- Medical‑grade silicone tube.
- Internal inflatable silicone retention balloon for intragastric fixation.
- SECUR‑LOK adjustable external retention ring (external bolster) for secure positioning.
- Radiopaque stripe for X‑ray visualization.
Sizes and distal tip options
- Available French sizes: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 Fr.
- Distal tip style: 12 Fr tapered; 14–30 Fr recessed (including 22 Fr).
Balloon inflation guidance
- Fill the retention balloon with sterile or distilled water only.
- Follow the Instructions for Use and the volume printed on the inflation port.
- Typical fill guidance:
- 12 Fr: 2–3 mL (nominal 5 mL)
- 14–16 Fr: 3–5 mL (nominal 7 mL)
- 18–30 Fr: 7–10 mL (nominal 15 mL)
