Description
The HOYA Toric IOL Vivinex iSert, available in models XY1A and XY1A-SP, is a specialized intraocular lens designed for patients undergoing cataract surgery with a need for astigmatism correction. This lens offers advanced features tailored to enhance visual outcomes and long-term ocular health.
Optic Design
- Biconvex Structure: The lens features a biconvex optic with an aspheric anterior surface and a toric posterior surface, providing precise astigmatism correction.
- Edge Design: Its square, thin, and textured optic edge with sharp design helps minimize posterior capsule opacification (PCO), ensuring clearer vision post-surgery.
- Axis Orientation: Marks on the posterior surface aid in accurate alignment during implantation.
Material and Light Filtering
Crafted from glistening-free hydrophobic acrylic, the Vivinex™ material includes integrated UV and blue light filters. This composition enhances lens clarity and protects the eye from harmful light exposure.
Haptic Design
The lens's haptic design, made from the same acrylic material, features a textured-rough surface. This design promotes enhanced stability within the eye, maintaining the lens's position effectively.
Dimensions and Power Range
- Optic Diameter: 6.00 mm
- Overall Length: 13.00 mm
- Spherical Power: Ranges from +10.00 to +30.00 diopters in 0.50 D increments.
- Cylinder Power: At the IOL plane, ranges from 1.00 to 6.00 D, with specific increments for precise customization.
Injector System
The lens comes preloaded in the Vivinex™ iSert® or multiSert™ injector system. With a front injector tip diameter of 1.70 mm, it is recommended for a 2.20 mm incision size, supporting both single- and two-handed injection techniques.
Rotational Stability
The lens demonstrates exceptional rotational stability, with a median rotation of 1.1° and 96–100% of lenses showing ≤5° rotation up to six months post-implantation.
Surface Treatment and Clinical Performance
Active oxygen processing on the posterior surface and a smooth, regular IOL surface contribute to reduced PCO formation. The proprietary aspheric optic design partially compensates for corneal spherical aberration, enhancing image quality and reducing visual disturbances.
Proven Benefits
Clinical data highlights the lens's long-term clarity, biocompatibility, and significantly lower PCO and Nd:YAG capsulotomy rates compared to other IOLs. The HOYA Toric Calculator, utilizing the Abulafia-Koch Regression formula, supports precise cylinder power calculation, ensuring optimal visual outcomes for patients.
