Description
Intended use
Single-use enteral administration sets designed for gravity (drip) feeding. They deliver tube feeds without a pump and are less precise than pump-assisted feeding. Use under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Key features
- Drip chamber for priming and visual drop counting
- Manual roller clamp for adjustable flow control
- ENPlus cross-spike connection for feed packs/containers
- Patient-side ENFit connector (ISO 80369-3) with integrated ENFit medication port
- Y-port/two-port connector to attach a second feed container or a water/flush line
- Protective end/dust caps; lilac/purple enteral-only identification
- Materials: latex-free and DEHP-free
Variants
- Gravity Pack Set: Y-port and drip chamber for ENPlus-compatible feed packs and Flocare containers
- Gravity Pack & Bottle Set: As above, plus a universal bottle adaptor for direct bottle connection
Connections and compatibility
- Feed-side: Connects to ENPlus-compatible enteral feed packs (e.g., Nutrison) and Flocare containers. The Bottle & Pack variant includes a universal bottle adaptor for bottle connection.
- Patient-side: Screw the ENFit connector onto the feeding tube until snug; do not overtighten.
Operation (summary)
- Close the roller clamp. Connect the set to the feed container and hang on a drip stand.
- Prime: Squeeze the drip chamber to about halfway. Open the clamp to fill the line and expel air, then close the clamp.
- Connect to the feeding tube. Open the clamp to start feeding and fine-tune the flow with the roller clamp.
- Check the feed container and flow regularly; do not allow the container to run empty.
Gravity flow guidance
Approximate guide (drops/min ≈ mL/hr). Actual flow varies with formula viscosity, head height, and patient factors. - 25 ≈ 7 - 50 ≈ 13 - 75 ≈ 20 - 100 ≈ 27 - 125 ≈ 33 - 150 ≈ 40 - 175 ≈ 47 - 200 ≈ 53 Monitor tolerance and adjust, especially with high-fibre or energy-dense formulas.
Care and disposal
- Prime the set before connecting to the patient
- Flush the feeding tube with prescribed water before and after feeds and medications, and at least three times daily, as directed
- Single-use only; replace and discard the set every 24 hours
- Store in a clean, dry environment away from dust and direct sunlight
Safety notes
- Gravity use only; not for use with enteral feeding pumps
- Use under medical supervision and confirm tube position before feeding
- Maintain aseptic handling throughout setup and use
- Monitor drip rate frequently to meet the prescribed regimen and patient tolerance
- Do not overtighten connections
