Description
The Dual Lumen 5 F Endexo PASV Bio PICC Bioflo is a highly specialized peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) designed for advanced medical applications. This device integrates cutting-edge technologies to enhance patient care and reduce complications associated with catheter use.
Key Features
Endexo Technology
This catheter is embedded with Endexo Technology, a permanent, non-eluting polymer that significantly reduces the accumulation of blood components such as platelets and thrombus. By passively modifying the device surface, it decreases thrombus formation and bacterial adhesion, leading to a cleaner and more efficient catheter. Clinical data supports up to 99% reduction in thrombus formation and up to 99.9% reduction in bacterial adhesion, making it a reliable choice for minimizing biofouling.
PASV Technology
The Pressure Activated Safety Valve (PASV) Technology is located in the catheter hub, automatically resisting backflow and reducing blood reflux. This feature minimizes catheter-related complications such as occlusion and infection. The valve operates seamlessly, closing after infusion and opening for blood sampling, eliminating the need for external clamps.
Design and Material
Crafted from advanced polyurethane (carbothane), the catheter is alcohol-resistant, durable, flexible, and kink-resistant. Its dual lumen design with a 5 French size allows for high flow rates and easier blood withdrawal. The catheter features a short reverse taper at the insertion site to reduce blood loss and enhance kink resistance.
Visualization and Compatibility
Enhanced radiopacity ensures clear fluoroscopic visualization, while the trimmable catheter tip and patented reverse tapered extrusion increase kink resistance and hub strength. The device is compatible with ECG-based tip confirmation systems, providing precise placement.
Intended Use
This PICC is suitable for both short and long-term peripheral access to the central venous system. It supports the intravenous administration of fluids, medications, and nutrients, along with blood sampling and power injection of contrast media for imaging.
Maintenance Guidelines
Proper maintenance includes regular saline flushing and aseptic handling to ensure optimal performance. Users are advised to inspect the catheter for damage regularly and adhere to institutional protocols for care.
Contraindications
The device is contraindicated in cases of venous thrombosis, certain orthopedic or neurological conditions, and infection at the intended insertion site, among others. It is intended for use by or on the order of a physician, aligning with professional medical standards.
