Convatec's AQUACEL® Adhesive Foam Sacral Dressing is a highly specialized wound care solution, meticulously designed for the sacral area. Each dressing measures 20cm by 17cm and comes in a box of five, offering a comprehensive approach to managing both exuding and non-exuding wounds.

Advanced Multi-layer Design

This dressing features a sophisticated multi-layer construction that includes:

• Waterproof Outer Layer: A polyurethane film that protects against external contaminants, allowing for activities like showering without compromising the wound site.
• Absorbent Foam Pad: A soft polyurethane layer that provides comfort while effectively absorbing excess wound fluid.
• Hydrofiber® Contact Layer: Made from sodium carboxymethylcellulose, this layer gels upon contact with wound exudate, maintaining a moist environment conducive to healing.
• Silicone Adhesive Border: Ensures secure attachment to the surrounding skin without adhering to the wound bed, facilitating easy and painless removal.

Protective Barrier Properties

The dressing acts as a barrier against bacteria and viruses, while allowing moisture evaporation to prevent maceration. Its ability to absorb wound fluid and bacteria helps maintain an optimal healing environment, supporting autolytic debridement and reducing lateral fluid spread.

Comfort and Conformability

Designed to micro-contour to the wound bed, this dressing minimizes dead space and can be tailored to fit challenging anatomical areas. Its skin-friendly properties make it suitable for individuals with sensitive or fragile skin, as it minimizes pain and trauma upon removal. The dressing is latex-free, reducing the risk of allergic reactions.

Versatile Usage

Suitable for a wide range of wound types, including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, surgical wounds, partial thickness burns, and traumatic wounds. It can be worn for up to seven days or changed as clinically indicated, and is safe for use in MRI environments. However, it should not be used with oxidizing agents or oil-based products and is contraindicated for those sensitive to its components.

Application and Storage

To use, apply the dressing to a cleansed wound, either as a primary or secondary dressing. It is compatible with compression therapy and should be stored at room temperature, kept dry, and protected from light. This product provides healthcare professionals, carers, and patients with a reliable dressing option that enhances wound management and protection of intact skin.
