Description
This sterile, aqueous antiseptic irrigation solution contains chlorhexidine 0.1% w/v in a 30 mL single‑use ampoule. It is intended for topical irrigation to help cleanse skin and superficial wounds and reduce the risk of infection, and to prepare sites prior to procedures such as urinary catheter insertion.
Uses
- Irrigation and cleansing of skin or superficial wounds
- Pre‑procedure skin preparation (excluding face/head)
Directions
- Rinse the area with water before application.
- Use undiluted; apply the minimum amount needed, gently wash, and allow to air‑dry for about 3 minutes.
- Single‑use only; discard any remainder immediately after opening.
- Do not mix with soaps, detergents, or other chemicals.
Precautions
- For topical irrigation only. Do not use in the eye, the auditory canal (especially with a perforated eardrum), near the meninges/brain/spinal cord, in body cavities, or for oral/intravenous use. Not for soft contact lens disinfection.
- Hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, can occur; discontinue use if signs of reaction appear.
- Chemical burns have been reported in neonates, particularly preterm infants; avoid pooling/excess and ensure skin is dry before applying occlusive dressings.
- Inspect before use; use only if the solution is clear and the container/seal is intact.
Storage and packaging
- Store below 25°C and protect from light; do not heat above 80°C.
- 30 mL single‑use ampoule; may be supplied in cartons.
