Canesten Athlete's Foot Cream is a highly effective topical antifungal treatment designed to combat a variety of common fungal skin infections. With its active ingredient, Clotrimazole at 1% w/w, this cream targets conditions such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm, fungal nappy rash, and fungal sweat rash.

How It Works

Clotrimazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption leads to the impairment and eventual death of the fungal cells, providing relief from infection.

Application Instructions

• Usage: For external use only.
• Application: Apply a thin, even layer to the affected area two to three times daily and rub in gently.
• Preparation: For athlete’s foot, ensure feet are washed and dried thoroughly, especially between the toes, before application.
• Quantity: A ½ cm strip of cream is sufficient for an area the size of a hand.
• Duration: Continue treatment for at least two to four weeks to prevent re-infection.

Precautions

• Avoid use if allergic to clotrimazole or any other ingredients.
• Not suitable for use on nails or scalp.
• Keep away from eyes, mouth, and other sensitive areas.
• Consult a healthcare provider if using during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Be aware of potential local skin reactions due to cetostearyl alcohol and benzyl alcohol.
• Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.

Possible Side Effects

Some users may experience local skin reactions such as itching, rash, blisters, burning, discomfort, swelling, irritation, redness, or peeling.

Formulation

The cream includes excipients such as benzyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate, cetyl palmitate, cetostearyl alcohol, octyldodecanol, and purified water, resulting in a white cream.

Packaging and Storage

Available in various tube sizes ranging from 15g to 50g, though not all sizes may be marketed. Store the cream below 25°C in its original carton to maintain its 36-month shelf life.
