Description

Nutricia Calogen is a ready-to-use, energy-dense, shot-style oral fat emulsion for the dietary management of disease-related malnutrition and conditions requiring high energy intake. It provides 4.5 kcal/ml, with 100% of energy from long-chain triglycerides (LCT). The formulation is protein-free, fibre-free, and very low in carbohydrate. Neutral flavour is essentially electrolyte- and micronutrient-free (very low sodium and chloride) with an osmolality of ~5 mOsmol/kg H2O; Strawberry contains a small amount of carbohydrate with osmolality ~360 mOsmol/kg H2O. Calogen can be taken undiluted as small shots, mixed into foods or fluids, or added to tube feeds, and may replace milk in protein-restricted diets. Available in Neutral and Strawberry flavours in 200 ml bottles; Neutral also in 500 ml bottles. Use under medical supervision.

Ingredients

• Neutral: Vegetable oils (rapeseed oil, sunflower oil), demineralised water, emulsifier (citric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids).
• Strawberry: Vegetable oils (rapeseed oil, sunflower oil), demineralised water, sugar, emulsifier (citric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids), strawberry flavour, colour (E120).

• Dietary management of disease-related malnutrition.
• High energy needs when fluid/volume and/or electrolyte/mineral restriction is required.
• Protein- or residue-restricted diets; poor tolerance or compliance to standard multi-nutrient ONS.

Directions for use

• Shake well before use; follow healthcare professional guidance.
• Take undiluted or diluted; mix into foods/fluids or add to tube feeds.
• May require dilution for children under 5 years.

• Flavoured Calogen (Strawberry) is not suitable for infants and children under 3 years.

• Low lactose (<2 g/100 g).
• Halal certified.
• Kosher approval varies by flavour; products containing carminic acid (E120) are not Kosher.

Storage

• Store in a cool, dry place. Do not freeze.
• After opening: reseal, refrigerate, and use within 14 days; discard any unused contents after 14 days.
