Biosyn Monofilament Synthetic Absorbable Suture is crafted from Gylcomer 631, a synthetic polyester blend of glycolide, dioxanone, and trimethylene carbonate. This composition provides the suture with the necessary tensile strength retention during the critical wound healing period, maintaining approximately 75% of its strength at two weeks and around 40% at three weeks post-implantation.

Absorption and Visibility

The suture is designed to be fully absorbed between 90 and 110 days, eliminating the need for removal and reducing long-term tissue reaction. It is available in violet for enhanced visibility and undyed (beige) for more discreet applications.

Handling and Performance

Biosyn's monofilament construction ensures smooth passage through tissue, minimizing trauma and providing excellent knot security. The suture exhibits minimal memory, allowing for ease of handling and reliable performance in various surgical settings.

Needle Options

A range of needle types complements the suture, including reverse cutting, premium reverse cutting made from Surgalloy, and taper needles. These options offer added strength and ductility, suitable for different surgical needs.

Indications

Biosyn is indicated for general soft tissue approximation, subcuticular skin closure, ligation, and ophthalmic surgery. It is not recommended for cardiovascular or neurological procedures.
