The 4.0mm MICROCUFF® Paediatric Endotracheal Tube is a specialized medical device designed for precise airway management in young children aged 2 to less than 4 years. Innovative Cuff Design

• Material: The tube features a micro-thin polyurethane cuff membrane, only 10 microns thick, providing a high volume, low pressure (HVLP) seal.
• Pressure Management: With an average cuff pressure of just 11 cm H₂O, the design significantly reduces the risk of airway trauma and mucosal injury compared to conventional tubes.
• Durability: The cuff membrane withstands burst pressures over 800 cm H₂O, offering exceptional puncture resistance.
• Placement: Its short, cylindrical, distally placed cuff creates a subglottic cuff-free zone, enhancing airway sealing and minimizing aspiration risk.

Precision Tube Design

• Dimensions: The tube has an inner diameter of 4.0 mm and an outer diameter of 5.6 mm.
• Configuration: It is made of clear plastic with a curved, oral RAE configuration and lacks a Murphy Eye at the tip.
• Placement Markings: Features four precision bands and a black intubation depth mark above the cuff for accurate placement between the vocal cords.

Sterility and Safety

• Single Use: The tube is supplied sterile, latex-free, and intended for single use only.

• Clinical Judgment: Pre-cutting is possible with appropriate clinical judgment.

Clinical Considerations

• Cuff Management: Cuff inflation should not exceed 20 cm H₂O pressure, with continuous monitoring advised.
• Leak Confirmation: An audible air leak at ≤ 20 cm H₂O airway pressure should be confirmed with the cuff fully deflated.
• Obstruction Risk: The absence of a Murphy Eye may increase the risk of complete airway obstruction if blockage occurs.
