- Image Magnification: 2.68x
- Laser Spot Magnification: 0.37x

Available in both glass and acrylic forms, the lens offers options for sharper imaging or lighter, more resilient handling. Color variants include Black, Blue, Gold, Green, Purple, Red, Silver, Pink, and a special 50th Anniversary Champagne Gold.
Design and Use
The lens's design includes a convex 'belly' side facing the examiner and a flatter side facing the patient. Some versions feature a metallic rim to indicate the patient-facing side. It creates an upside-down, reversed virtual image of the fundus, suitable for both human and veterinary ophthalmology.
Maintenance and Care
Proper care involves regular cleaning with Volk Precision Optical Lens Cleaner or Volk LensPen®. Disinfection should follow manufacturer instructions using recommended high-level disinfectants. For surgical use or contact with ulcerated corneas, comprehensive sterilization methods are compatible, including Ethylene Oxide, Steam, Sterrad, V-Pro, and Sterizone VP4.
Storage and Handling
Store the lens in a clean, dry environment at room temperature. Note that colored rings may discolor with certain disinfectants or repeated sterilization, affecting appearance only. Use Volk Sterilization Case or Tray to prevent damage, and avoid sterilizing Volk black leatherette or clamshell cases.
Additional Features
Each lens comes with a complimentary case, and optional custom engraving is available for both the lens and case, up to 14 characters each. This lens is renowned for its ease of use, making it a popular choice among new ophthalmology residents and general practitioners for general-purpose indirect retinal examination.
